DAY 49 Prayer for Peaceful Reunification

비무장지대의 자연환경이 보존되어 평화의 상징이 되게 하옵소서.

사랑의 하나님, 우리 한민족은 분단된 채 서로를 향해 총을 겨누고 있습니다. 38선의 철조망이 남북을 가른 지 70년이 되었습니다. 6.25전쟁으로 248킬로미터의 휴전선이 38선을 대신한지 여러 세대가 지났습니다. 세상 그 어디에도 인간의 손길이 닿지 않는 곳이 없건만, 한반도에는 사람의 발길을 거부한 비무장지대가 놓여 있습니다. 이곳은 동족상잔의 비애를 고스란히 담아둔 채, 전쟁의 상처를 품고 있나이다. 

주여, 우리 민족을 불쌍히 여기사, 이제는 분단경계선이 무너지게 하옵소서. 전쟁의 상처와 아픔을 품은 비무장지대가 세계평화를 위한 교육의 장이 되게 하옵소서. 분단과 긴장의 장소가 화합과 평화의 장소로 탈바꿈시켜 주옵소서. 평화를 사랑하는 세계인들의 발걸음이 이어지게 하옵소서. 자연환경이 보전되고 동물들이 뛰노는 평화의 터전이 되게 하옵소서. 하늘을 나는 새들이 자유로이 오가듯이 남북 간에 소통하는 현장이 되게 하옵소서. 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

We pray for the preservation of the natural environment in the Demilitarized Zone, that it may serve as a symbol of peace.

Loving God, the Korean people are divided and are aiming weapons at each other. It has been 70 years since the barbed-wire fences were erected to divide the nation at the 38th parallel. Generations have passed since the 248-kilometer Korean War ceasefire line replaced the 38th parallel. There is almost no place on earth untouched by human hands, yet the Demilitarized Zone in the Korean peninsula remains untouched.

Lord, have mercy on our nation and let the borderline crumble. May the Demilitarized Zone symbolizing the scars of war now become an educational site for world peace. May the site of division and tension become the ground of unity and peace. May the peace-loving people of the world continue to walk through the zone. Preserve the environment, as it has become a peaceful place where animals roam. As the birds fly freely across the border, may the people of the North and the South interact freely with each other.
