2017: A Light of Peace

National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK)

A Light of Peace

As the continuing tension and conflict on the Korean peninsula threaten peace and security of the Korean people, the WCC together with NCCK is calling its member churches to participate in the Light of Peace campaign in the first week of Avent.

In response to the call, the NCCK will hold candlelight vigils at Gwanghamun square on Dec. 3-9.

The vigils will be held in the same location as the Candlelight revolution where more than 17 million people in total gathered, demanding "resignation of President Park Guen-Hye." On Dec. 9, NCCK and YMCA together will organize a candlelight vigil for a nuclear-free world. We ask all our partner churches to participate in the Light of Peace campaign for the Korean peninsula.
