Duk-rye Choi, a victim enslaved by the Japanese military during WWII, passed away in Korea on the 23rd (local time). This leaves 28 survivors in South Korea, but there are more survivors in China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor, Australia, and more.
She lived near Seoul after the war, leading a quiet life.
A private funeral has been scheduled per request of the bereaved family.
